A writer, a researcher, a mom

Petit Sujet was founded by Gamze Hakverdi, a writer and researcher with a PhD in Communication Sciences and a Master’s in Child Studies from Linköping University, Sweden. Her journey across Türkiye, Italy, and Sweden has shaped her deep interest in what she calls the “emotional texture” of life — vulnerability, identity, and the ways children make sense of the world.

Her background in child sociology isn’t an academic footnote — it’s the foundation of every editorial decision at Petit Sujet. She consciously steps away from didactic storytelling and instead stands beside young readers, experiencing and questioning the world together.

How to Fix the Pisa Tower? is her first picture book, and Petit Sujet’s first title — a playful, slightly tilted invitation to see the world differently.
